There’s nothing like experiencing afternoon tea at a London hotel. Me and Ana, my friend and fellow blogger, were invited to celebrate the Afternoon Tea Week with a bubbly Afternoon Tea event at the Grosvenor House Hotel. I had a great time with some great company and delicious drinks and food.
I’m always down for a luxurious afternoon-tea experience, especially if it’s in such an elegant hotel such as the Grosvenor House. From the excellent service by the hotel’s staff to the venue’s decor and the delicious food- We really enjoyed our experience.
THE AFTERNOON TEA EXPERIENCE
Afternoon tea is a British tradition dated back to the early 19th century. Located at Park Lane, the Grosvenor hotel offers an afternoon tea menu named after Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford. Anna was the royal who was said to have started the afternoon tea tradition after complaining she was “having that sinking feeling” during the late afternoon. Following her complaint, a light meal consisting of tea and sandwiches was introduced. What originally was just a small bite evolved into a tradition of celebrations in Britain.
As we walked in to the Grosvenor we were greeted nicely by the friendly waitress that served us a bubbly glass of champagne. She proceed to explain us about their selection of teas that included rare teas and classic ones. I chose one of the rare teas that tasted a little fruity. After our teas were served, the waitress also served us a small cocktail drink with cotton candy on top. We were then served with the afternoon tea that included a wide variety of finger sandwiches that catered to everyone’s dietary needs. The sweet options were also appetising, with cakes and sweets on offer.
I would definitely recommend having an afternoon tea at the Grosvenor Hotel for a luxurious experience.
