For a year I’ve been living in Lille, a charming French city bordering with Belgium. So there’s no wonder I’ve visited many Belgium cities during that time. That is why you should trust me when I say that Bruges is my most recommended destination for tourists that visit Belgium. I loved the city so much that after my first visit I went back again five months later.
As a must-seen destination, Bruges has a lot to offer for families, couples or single young travelers. I’m not going to list here the obvious tourist attractions in Bruges, as you have other sites such as TripAdvisor for that. Instead, I’m going to list all my favorite fun activities, and take you step-by-step to a virtual guided tour.
So what’s to do in Bruges?
- Have a glimpse at the funny-looking trees at the entrance to the city
- Feel the romantic atmosphere at the Minnewater Lake, also known as the Lake of Love
- Try to take a picture with a swan
- Eat Belgium chocolate & drink lots of Belgium beer
- Take a horse carriage ride
- The main square often hosts fun performances & festivals
- Drink hot chocolate from a chocolate stick of your choice
- Take a walk by the breathtaking canals
- And while you’re there pose for beautiful travel photo while overlooking the canals
- Kiss the frog for luck in love
Hope you are now convinced that you’ll love Brugge as much as I do.

Thanks for this guide. I know I’ll be visiting Brussels in a matter of weeks, but I’m not sure about Bruges. Looks lovely. Hot chocolate on a stick sounds wonderful. :]

It’s a shame you won’t get to visit, but hopefully on your next visit 🙂
This city is like a fairy tale!
