One of my favourite trips that I’ve done in Italy was to Amalfi Coast; Amalfi Coast is famous due to its scenic beauty, pampering hotels and romantic atmosphere. Ravello, a medieval village located above the Amalfi Coast, was one of the villages in the coast that me and my boyfriend visited. Famous for its scenic view points, romantic atmosphere and breathtaking beauty, Ravello, although less known, is a must-visit when traveling to the Amalfi Coast. Ravello is a perfect luxury destination with a variety of upscale hotels and Michelin star restaurants made to ensure you’ll experience the ultimate luxurious vacation.
LUXURY TRAVEL GUIDE TO RAVELLO: Amalfi Coast’s Hidden Gem
Amalfi Coast is a popular tourist destination in the coast of Italy. However, most visitors to the Amalfi Coast choose to visit other villages around the area. That is why Ravello is an underrated hidden gem in the Amalfi but it is absolutely worth your visit.
SCENIC VIEWS
Ravello has incredible viewpoints that can be found all around; Starting by the boardwalk when entering the village and continuing throughout the entire area. Especially, Ravello’s mesmerising views and beauty makes it the perfect romantic location for you and your significant other.
WHAT TO DO
There are many things to do in Ravello. It is worth to start your visit with Ravello’s main square which has several restaurants and cute shops. In addition, at the piazza you’ll also find the central Cathedral Duomo di Ravello. One of Ravello’s main and best attractions is Villa Rufolo which is located only few steps away from the main square. The stunning villa was built in 1270 by Nicola Rufolo. Its beauty and unique architecture has made it a famous attraction. What caught my eye the most was its beautiful gardens and especially the gorgeous views overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Another great attraction in Ravello is located at the end of a long picturesque path and is called Villa Cimbrone. The villa is a historic building dating back to the 11th century and is located on a rocky outcrop. It is especially visited for its scenic terrace, known as “the Terrace of Infinity”. The two villas are definitely a must-visit attractions when in Ravello.
Another option is to rent a car and go on a day trip from Ravello to other lovely towns around the Amalfi coast such as Positano, Sorrento or Amalfi Town.
WHAT TO EAT
Like any luxury destination Ravello is also the home of Michelin Star restaurants. Restaurant Rossellinis is situated at the luxury hotel Palazzo Avino. Led by Chef Pino Lavarra, the restaurant offer fine dinning at a unique location overlooking the hills. Il Flauto Di Pan is another Michelin restaurant located at Villa Cimbrone in an old venue. It offers refined Mediterranean cuisine and uses organic ingredients grown at the villa. A date night at one of these upscale restaurants is the perfect indulgent. Especially if you are celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, a honeymoon or even just because.
WHERE TO STAY
Palazzo Avino is a stunning five-star hotel that is undoubtly the definition of luxury. Built in the 12th century, the hotel was previously a private villa for an Italian noble family. Its terrace is unbelievably beautiful and it provides an additional viewpoint of Ravello’s surroundings. Another hotel that redefines luxury with its beauty is Belmond Hotel Caruso. This dreamy upscale hotel offers an infinity pool and breathtaking panorama views. Indeed, the Amalfi Coast as a whole offers a great variety of luxury hotels, however, Ravello offers the best of the best.

How gorgeous is this place though?! Ben absolutely fell in love with the Duomo’s we saw throughout Italy, so I know that’d be his first stop. Mine would be the food, of course. We definitely want to hit the Almafi coast since we weren’t able to get there over the summer!

I have wanted to visit the Amalfi coast for years to see places like Villa Cimbrone that are 1000 years old would be amazing. Especially coming from a country that our oldest buildings are only a couple of hundred years old.
Really what country are you from? and yes that was amazing to see!
