Visit the Valley of the Flowers in August or early September and the mountain slopes will be covered with brightly coloured flora as far as the eye can see.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing, North Island, New Zealand

New Zealand is renowned for its beautiful countryside, and you’re practically guaranteed a stellar view no matter where you go. Film fans will love The Tongariro Alpine Crossing, where the volcanic landscape was the location for Mordor during the filming of The Lord of the Rings.
